The classic whiskey cocktail

Equipment

  • 1 rocks glass (old fashioned glass)
  • 1 muddler
  • 1 bar spoon

Ingredients

  • 1.5 oz whiskey (bourbon or rye)
  • 1 sugar cube (or 1 tsp)
  • 3 dashes Angostura orange bitters
  • 1 Luxardo maraschino cherry (optional, for garnishing)
  • 1 orange slice (optional, for garnishing)

Instructions

  • Put the sugar cube in the rocks glass
    1 sugar cube
  • Douse it with the Angostura bitters
    3 dashes Angostura orange bitters
  • Add a few dashes of water
  • Muddle it all together until the sugar is dissolved
  • Fill the glass with ice cubes
  • Add the shot of whiskey
    1.5 oz whiskey
  • Stir gently with the bar spoon
  • Add the Luxardo cherry and the slice of orange
    1 Luxardo maraschino cherry, 1 orange slice
